Being a Mom

Yesterday was Mother's Day, a celebration of mothers everywhere. I love being a mom, I want each of my children to know how very much I love them and I am so proud of each of them and the wonderful people that they are. I look at Sarah and I think about how fast the time goes when they are small and that before I know it she will be all grown up like my others. I came across a poem that I really like that I thought was a good reminder.

Take time to hold me on your lap,

To joke with me and make me laugh,

Take time, Mommy, this time will go fast

Take time to give me extra hugs,

To teach me a nursery rhyme or song,

Take time, Mommy; I won't be little long.

Take time to tuck me into bed,

To read that story you know by heart,

Take time, Mommy; soon these days will part.

Take time to exclaim over what I color,

To admire the things I make from clay,

Take time Mommy; I'm growing up and away.

Take time to imagine or make-believe,

To play some childish, silly game,

Take time, Mommy; soon it won't be the same

Take time to let me help you work,

To teach me the many things you know,

Take time, Mommy; enjoy me as I grow.

Each day Sarah continues to learn and grow. Sam and I took her to the zoo one day last week and she really enjoyed seeing the animals. She loves to be outside and she loves to be a helper. She gets quite upset if you don't let her help do chores, she loves to help whenever anyone is doing dishes and the other day she pulled a bottle brush out from the drawer and began using it like a feather duster. Probably not alot of other kids her age that think about helping and cleaning like she does.

She is understanding what we say to her more each day, although she still is only speaking a few words. I am sure the language will come for her suddenly and she will soon be talking all the time. She really enjoys spending time with her sisters and last night Chad and Heather came over and she was so excited to see them, it is fun to see her smile and get excited. Children are such a blessing and I am grateful to be a mom, it is the best thing ever!

Sarah's Blessing

Saturday May 2, 2009 Sarah was blessed at our home. We had many family members to help us celebrate this special occasion. Todd gave her a very nice blessing and Chad, Ken, Jeff and Jim assisted in the blessing. It is so nice to have the support of our wonderful family. Sarah wore a special white oriental dress that we got for her in China. She looked beautiful despite the fact she had a cold and her cute little nose was red and sore. We had a luncheon after the blessing and everyone enjoyed visiting with one another. Sarah wasn't quite sure what to think about so many people but she did really well. The weather was rainy and a bit chilly but after the showers there was a beautiful rainbow.
Later that night we all went to a surprise birthday party for our daughter-in-law, Heather. We went bowling and Sarah thought that was pretty neat. She loved helping push the ball down the lane, she didn't really care if pins were knocked down or not, it was all about carrying the ball to the lane and pushing it and then going back and waiting for the ball to return. It was a very fun evening and a great day.
